Activities

Kinnagait and its surrounding area is a landscape rich in history, culture and adventure. We offer cultural experiences, where an elder lights the qulliq and enlightens guests with tales of Inuit life and art. The elder is usually a renowned artist who shares stories of camp life, West Baffin history, and the West Baffin Eskimo Co-Operative. These events are highlighted with throatsinging, printmaking, carving and other Inuit art forms. Sweetening these evenings are traditional Inuit-based meals.

You have access to several activities in spring, summer, and winter. There are a variety of adventures ranging from snowmobiling, nature viewing, and fishing, to guided hiking tours around the area.

Inuit Art and Culture Tour

Gently ease into the arctic world with a four-day trip that will immerse you in inspired Inuit art and culture.

You’ll be welcomed to Kinnagait – residence to the most artists per capita in Canada – with a traditional northern meal in our home.

The trip is punctuated by a cultural gathering, where we listen to throat singing and talk with Inuit artists and elders about their life and art.

A community tour will include a visit to the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative located in The Kenoajuak Cultural Centre, where the world famous Inuit prints are now being produced. We will also take you to sales rooms that specialize in Inuit carvings.

From Kinnagait we can hike to Thule and Dorset sites close to the community.

This trip will provide opportunities to view Inuit art, meet Inuit carvers and graphic artists and learn about the Inuit of Kinnagait.

This tour is offered in the summer and fall. We are flexible with different size groups and can provide group rates.
